According to the commercial coordinator of the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém, terminal has ability to carry out shipments and landings in an agile way, and economy could project a good image in the international market

The Pecém Industrial and Port Complex (Cipp) continues to evolve in cargo handling performance. In 2019, the terminal is already working with a forecast of an increase of 8% to 10% in total transported in relation to 2018. The information was confirmed by the commercial coordinator of Cipp, Raul Viana, who also celebrated the realization of a process that may increase the visibility of the Port in the market and the productivity of the operations of loading and unloading of processes in future stages.
Last weekend, the port of Pecém repeated the execution of a move that reduces the time and the number of processes necessary for the landing of a cargo on the ship berthed for the replacement of a new input. According to Viana, the operation generated a saving of 50% of the costs when using only a mooring berth and only carrying out one mooring ship process.
This time, according to Viana, wind turbines manufactured in India were landed to importation and steel slabs produced at Steelplant Company of Pecém (SCP) were shipped to be exported to Italy.
It is the first time that this model of movement is carried out for these types of cargo, but Pecém has already carried out a similar process, involving coal and steel slabs, also produced by SCP. Evaluating the decrease of steps, the commercial coordinator estimates that the total economy can reach up to R $ 500 thousand.
Productivity
Confirming its ability to execute this process in a more agile way, Viana stated that the Port of Pecém can get better in the market by being able to offer benefits and more savings to ships that dock at the terminal. "This may, indeed, represent in future gains by generating a very large economy in operations," said Viana.
"And when the customer, who is the most benefited, obtains this economy, it ends up gaining several logistical advantages in other areas, such as the contracting of the ship's freight becayse ships will have to spend less on fuel, for example", he completed.
Viana also said, about cargo handling, that Pecém has presented an average growth of 32% annually over the last 10 years. In addition, this number can be boosted in the period of 2 to 3 years, with the completion of SCP's steel slabs production expansion project.
