The Port of Rotterdam, administrator of the Port of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, confirmed on Wednesday 29, a partnership with Ceará for a joint administration of the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex (Cipp) in São Gonçalo do Amarante. The state government should sign the papers regarding the company very soon.

Talking to O POVO Online, César Ribeiro, the Secretary of the State Economic Development, reinforced the importance of the agreement, which had been negotiated since March 2017, when the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in the Netherlands between Ceará and the Port of Rotterdam International.

The amount of the transaction has not yet been officially disclosed, according to Cesar, on account of confidentiality terms. "Once everything is settled, the values will be disclosed," he said.

The beginning of the venture should occur in 2018, but as it still depends on legal procedures, there is no specific date yet defined.

In July, the Company of Cipp purchased more than R$ 10 million shares of the Export Processing Zone (ZPE), thus controlling the entire industrial and port complex in a structural change that would have been demanded by Rotterdam as a requirement for the joint venture.
