Director of the Sant’Anna School in Pisa, Italy, and director of Perceptual Robotics Laboratory (PERCRO), Massimo Bergamasco will be at Unifor February 26 to give a lecture about “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics: applications in virtual environments”.

Promoted by the Research, Development and Innovation Board of Unifor (DPDI), in partnership with Polo Multimodal Pecém, a member of the Association of Companies of the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém, the event will present innovative techniques of augmented reality and interaction of people with robots in virtual environments.

In his lecture, Professor Bergamasco will also give examples of the application of robotic exoskeletons and how robotics can serve with an extension of the human body in diverse areas such as health and manufacturing.

The event is free and open to the public. Entries can be made through the Unifor website: www.unifor.br/web/pesquisa-inovacao.

An Italian partner at Polo MultiModal Pecém, Sebastiano Di Ruocco reinforces the importance of discussing artificial intelligence. "Science fiction films made us believe that artificial intelligence was distant and when it came to reality it would take our place, with human-shape robots endowed with an intelligence that we could never reach. But this technology is more and more present in our day to day life, supporting us and showing us that man and machine need not to diverge, "he says.

Professor Vasco Furtado, director of DPDI, points out that the event is part of the initiatives of the Technological Park of Unifor (TEC Unifor). "The interaction of companies with the university in an environment like TEC Unifor provides experiences that bring scientific breakthroughs to business reality."
